Yellow is all the rage

We are drowning in gold, yellow and orange tomatoes at the moment here at the Saucery because tomato season is in full swing. Today we finally finished the first batch of our popular, and seasonal, Ugly Yellow Tomato Sauce.

We were able to get several hundred pounds of Golden Romas grown by the fine folks of Stokes Farm in NJ and we are thrilled. Yellow tomatoes were very hard to come by this season for a number of reasons so we’re not exactly sure if this is our only, or one of many, batches for 2022. TBD (still) I guess!

Canning Golden Roma tomatoes

These golden roma tomatoes from NJ are meaty and sweet and we’re very happy with how our first batch for 2022 turned out. We think you guys will love them too. You sure do wait long enough for these all year long, amiright?

When I saw these, I knew I had to have them so I made a deal with Ron of Stokes Farm and, well, here we are. We’ll also have canned Whole Peeled Midnight Romas from Sycamore Farms as well as Orange Creamsicles from Caradonna Farm. These paste varieties are perfect for storing in your pantry and using during the cold months ahead when you’ll be craving local, fresh tomatoes for that stew, soup or sauce you so badly want to cook up.
