How long should I keep opened sauce in the fridge?


Short answer? Eat it up within two weeks. As most of you already know, we do not use any preservatives in our products so we always encourage you to consume our sauces (after opening) within two weeks at the most.

Having your fridge at or below 40 degrees is ideal for keeping open condiments

If you want the sauce to last longer (after opening), pour it into a ziploc bag and freeze for up to six months, at most.

Otherwise, all our sauces and condiments are good for at least 12 months, unopened, inside a cool and dark pantry. You should never place your jars near a heat source or under the natural sun for long periods of time. Tomatoes are naturally acidic and will turn rancid, even bitter, if not kept within a reasonable temperature. Sometimes your fridge’s temperature needs to be adjusted as well. Ideally it should be 40º F or below. How cold your fridge is can make all the difference on how fresh anything will taste after it’s been opened for a few weeks. Always check!

On another note, mold is not the enemy. It’s a sign that you left the opened jar in the fridge for too long. So, at the end of the day, it’s on you. It’s a natural occurrence for any food that has past its prime. It’s not pretty to look at, I admit, but it’s also not radioactive either. Take it as a sign to remember next time to consume it within two weeks. Or, just freeze it!


Again, we do not use preservatives, fillers, or added sugar and lots of sodium like 98.9% of store-bought sauces. You want to know why that opened jar of tomato sauce made by *(insert brand name here)* lasts in your fridge, free of mold, for two-three months? Preservatives, tons of salt, sugar and over-processing.
